Keyth Jones once took for granted that he had a relative named Patsy Cline. Not wanting to disappoint—or perhaps wanting to—he bought a cheap acoustic guitar in the late ‘90s and brought his spirited, nasal vocals to coffeehouses from western Maryland to the West Virginia panhandle. His original songs struck a curious chord between golden oldies and grunge.
In the early 2000s, Keyth took a sharp turn by co-founding the avant-rock band Pläns Pläns in rural eastern Maryland. Known for its loud, abrasive sound, the band released two albums and bled many an ear during its eight-year run. For the next decade, Keyth found a musical home in Baltimore, singing and songwriting with Miles Gannett in Fractal Cat. The psychedelic ensemble released three albums, became a favorite on local radio, and played extensively along the East Coast, sharing stages with national acts such as Cris Jacobs and Rising Appalachia.
After a two-year hiatus from music—shaped by love, a global pandemic, and the cold mountain air—Keyth returned with a new collection of songs. These works combine quirky romanticism with his trademark blend of musical styles. The twists and turns in Keyth's new EP "Love Yourself" (2025) reflect the restless spirit of a lifelong musical wanderer.

Current lineup:
“From the kickoff song ‘Be Careful What You Dream,’ a rocking slice of foot propellant, to the epic spaced-out ‘Streets Are Burning,’ the new album [The Tower] evokes both the old, like the Beatles and other British Invaders from the 1960s, and the new, like My Morning Jacket.”
— Baltimore Sun
“[Fractal Cat’s] energetic and surreal sound offers urgent calls to trust your intuition, spread love, and give peace a chance.”
— Baltimore Magazine
“[Fractal Cat] show the clear influence of the British invasion sound, still relevant more than a half-century later.”
— Washington Times
